Recent Data Acquisitions

Redistricting Data Release by Census Bureau

     The first detailed data from the 2010 Census has been released. This data provide the first look of population changes for total population, voter-age population and race/ethnicity for 100 percent count data since the 2000 Census. This data is released from the census block, census tract, place, county, and numerous other geographies up to the state level.

Mission

To acquire,use and provide access to social science data to facilitate decision-making among students, faculty, managers, business, and government leaders in recreation, parks, tourism, and related disciplines.

Goals

Conduct training, research, and the dissemination of information regarding recreation, parks, tourism, and related areas.

Maintain the most comprehensive Data Repository and Clearinghouse for existing and new data sources in our field.

Program Areas

A. Data Library

The CSRE serves as a depository and clearinghouse for social, economic, community, spatial, natural resources data and related materials in recreation, parks and tourism. The CSRE continues to acquire, organize and manage datasets in order to maintain and make available a comprehensive library for use by students, faculty, government, non-profits, and other interested parties.

B. Education, Training, and Communication

The CSRE develops and offers workshops, seminars, and other forms of training on topics such as data sources and methods for basic social and community analysis. The CSRE distributes information and material in the form of publications, reports, articles, presentations and our website.

C. Research and Development

The CSRE conducts investigations on the social and behavioral aspects of people's experiences, quality of life and in their communities. This research serves as a source of expertise in such areas as public policy, community development, natural resource management, and planning in recreation, parks and tourism.
